I was reading someone’s post on social media about getting surgery for a deviated septum and more because they couldn’t breath. From my own experience, I know there is a clear way to ease sinus pressure and congestion!
25+ years ago, I suffered from daily sinus headaches which became sinus infections at least 5-6 x per year. The ENT said I had a deviated septum and maybe that is causing it. But could never explain why I had sinus pressure and a constant headache.
Maybe that softball to the nose in 7th grade had something to do with it?
But surgery to fix the deviated septum just didn’t sound like the right thing to do.
Not only did I have nasal problems, but my sinuses were always in pain. I had a constant headache and no ENT could explain why…until I got an infection and a dose of antibiotics. But the cycle continued until I stopped eating dairy.
Then I read (this was 30 years ago) and heard about it on a radio news snipet, that some people produce more mucus when they eat cow milk products.
It isn’t a dairy sensitivity or an allergy or digestive issue, but a reaction to the cassin, the milk protein in cow’s milk. Yup, my body was creating a lot of mucus because I was eating cheese every day and having milk with cereal and coffee.
Well, let’s try the elimination plan…. cause I was for sure tired of taking a sinus pill every morning just so I could breathe through my nose and get rid of the headache. And what did I have to lose but this headache and sinus pain?
So I decided to eliminate all dairy – any and everything cow’s milk for at least 2 months to see what would happen. It would sure be a clear way to ease my sinus congestion and stop buying sinus congestion pills or getting sinus infections year round!
After 7 days, I was actually waking up able to breathe through my nose without taking a nasal spray or a sinus pill. THAT was amazing.
For the first time in years, I could breathe through my nose!!
It worked! And it still works! 30+ years later, I am mostly dairy free. But no sinus problems except for when I eat cheese or put cream in my coffee regularly.
I eliminated everything cow’s milk – butter, cheese, milk, cream, yogurt, ice cream, and all foods with it (pizza, alfredo sauce, baked good, lasagna, sandwiches, etc). and back then, 30 years ago, there was soy milk but it was terrible! It was easier to just avoid those foods than it was to try to drink the alternatives.
I am living proof that cow’s milk products do cause some people to produce more mucus and have more sinus issues including congestion and headaches. I am also living proof that if you eliminate it, it doesn’t matter if you have a deviated septum – the problem is with your nutrition!
I have zero experience with the nasal surgery because eliminating dairy was what causing the blockage.
