i started to dehydrate for a juice fast and was making so much pulp i was not sure what to do with it. i didn’t really want to throw it away and i really didn’t want to make smoothies with it especially while on a juice fast – they would not last long enough! i would make those with some Vega One or Vega Sport protein powder when i was making it for a quick meal later in that same day. but while on this juice fast, i wanted something that would last longer than that!
having a food processor and dehydrator and a recipe booklet for flat breads, i decide this would be what i try!
i used 1/2 cup or more of raw nuts soaked for 4 -6 hours. i usually use cashews, almonds, pumpkin seeds or walnuts. then i put them into the food processor, added 2 tablespoons of soaked flax seeds, or ground flax or chia seeds, some rosemary (or other spice) and added the pulp. i processed it until it was fairly smooth without large chunks. then made some patties on the dehydrator trays, and dehydrated them for 12-16 hours.
they turned out great and were the perfect snack to break my juice fast, too! second piece i added some pasture butter and it was a real treat! if i find something else to make, i will let you know. but this was definitely the perfect use for the pulp! now i have flat breads for a week or more from 2 days of juicing!
