How to age yourself younger in 4 steps

How to age yourself younger is not a futuristic concept.  It is one I feel I am living and hope to continue living!  There are some simple steps to take and these are the 4 (or 5) I suggest to do first.

  1.   Start an anti-inflammatory nutrition plan

    You have heard me talking about this over the years.  Inflammation is one of the root causes of aging.  So the sooner you start to include it, the sooner you stop the aging acceleration process.  Here is how I suggest getting started on an anti-inflammatory plan.

    No , it won’t reverse all the aging, but I can attest that having started it 4 years ago in earnest, I have been told by many that “Your look younger than when I met you 7 years ago!”
    And “I want to know what you are doing.  Your skin looks amazing and I feel like you look way younger than you really are!”
    Plus, nothing hurts!

  2. Reduce stress and anxiety

    This is a really big one as stress, in addition to inflammation, accelerates the aging process and creating more free radicals than the body can handle.

    There are many ways to alleviate the stress but first you have to identify them!  The ones I am mainly referring to would be physical, mental and emotional.  You can either eliminate the stress, or you can help your body no longer respond to it as a stress.

    Oh, how do you do that?
    Nutrition is one aspect to help the body react better to stress and that nutrition does include the anti-inflammatory plan (step 1).

    But you need to alleviate the emotional and mental stress, too.  The best way I have experience this is by moving more, preferably in nature and with others.  And The Path To Heal energy work I do.  It is amazing at identifying where the emotional hurts and trauma’s originated, and erases them from the body’s energy field.  I also offer the Wholeness group classes which incorporate The Path To Heal work and essential oils.

    What was a stress, or an issue of overwhelm now becomes a non-stress with a differing view point, or an ability to choose love and compassion and prioritizing your needs first over others needs.  It seems simple, and it is when you do this work with me! 

    I can honestly say, that some stresses just are not stresses anymore to me.  I see them as just ‘stuff’ instead of headaches or annoyances.  I surround myself with positive people and am no longer punishing myself for actions I did or did not take.  I can be in the present without the worry, fear or anxiety – and that was really creating and acceleration in aging!

  3. Try essential oils to help with stress and anxiety!

    Essential oils are a great way to ‘heal the emotions’ without you thinking about the issues or emotions.  The oils are typically put into a diffuser which emits the oils into the air.  They can provide both physical properties and emotional properties.  I use a book called Essential Oils & Emotions as a reference guide and offer the emotional properties when I create my custom blends with an affirmation for when you use it.

    If you have not tried essential oils, this may be a time to do so!
    One of my favorite is Ylang Ylang which is for the inner child – it helps you reconnect with the innocence of a child, and also the playfulness a child beholds.  For me this has been a life-long pursuit for staying younger is to be more playful and keep the joy and play in life!

  4. Add Supplements to aid in Digestion and Adrenal support

    When stressed, often the digestion slows down.  When we age, we tend to reach a point where everything stresses us – and we can no longer cope as well as we did when we were younger.  This is normal, and sometimes welcome as it forces you to choose more positive activities that bring you joy and spur you to start honoring your needs over others needs first.

    I do include digestive enzymes daily, a probiotic (healthy gut and microbiome, healthy brain and body!), PhytoMulti -a plant-based multi-vitamin and fish oils.  I use SPM Active which is also an anti-inflammatory oils and helps more than standard Omega-3 oils.  Because I follow an anti-inflammatory protocol, I only need 1-2 per day vs the standard dose of 3-4 per day.

    When under immense and prolonged stress, Adreset supplement has been a great support for the adrenals.  It was one of the supplements I took when I had my adrenal exhaustion 18 years ago, and was integral in my recovery.  It is just one tool along with the other 3 points listed above.  You have to find where the stress is, resolve that and help the body repair.  Adreset is just a tool, but it will not do everything!

If you are wanting to find your elixir of life, you will want to start implementing these 4 steps to aging younger.  There is nothing to lose but stress and a bunch of stress lines..and maybe some unwanted weight.  You will find an inner and outer glow that will make others wonder what you are doing!  You are just following the 4 steps of how to age yourself younger!

I also found this article, Aging is BS, which may give you a few more ideas on how to incorporate a new mindset for getting older.  You are not falling apart after 50…unless you do adopt that mindset.  Add them to the 4 steps above and you may be the next young oldster!

New PR’s!

In 2012 I was new in the world of triathlons and had completed an Ironman. While it was a great experience, I had major cramping and had poor nutrition throughout the race. I also found myself cramping up in marathons and with a goal of a sub 3 marathon, I knew I couldn't achieved that if race day nutrition wasn't fixed.

I found Joanna through various friends that had used her and recommended her services. We had phone sessions because live quite a distance from her office, but it worked out great.

She made sure to individualize my nutrition plan to fit my exact needs. I completed another Ironman earlier this month and PR'd by over an hour and placed 3rd in my AG and 8th OA female not including pros. My marathon is at a 3:05 but hope to get sub 3 very soon and am confident that with my new race day nutrition, I will!
