i love eating. and i love to feel good. i also love experiments with food especially if it supposed to offer health benefits. so i have heard so much about juice fasting recently and i juice regularly already. i know the benefits of juicing – you get the nutrients instantly into your system! and i do it at least 4 times per week which has allowed me not to have the need for a multi-vitamin. but trying a juice fast on just vegetables and fruits was gonna be a challenge, but how could i offer it to my clients without testing it myself??
so you saw i made it thru the first day. was not as hard as i thought and i didn’t have the detox issues cause i already eat really clean, so not really tons of toxins to excrete. but that second day was just a bit harder than the first as i felt like i was on low blood sugar every 90 minutes. yes, every 90 minutes i had to go and make another juice as i just felt tired, sluggish and well, my brain was not working cause it had nothing to work with. maybe i needed to add more fruits, but i think i would have spiked the blood sugar more and had a worse crash. i did not feel hungry but felt behind the 8-ball so to speak in my energy levels. so about 3 PM, when i had to yet again try to make another juice, i said, i really need to eat. this is stupid. i am cold. i am am fighting low blood sugar every 90 minutes. even if someone had made the juices for me, i was still not liking that i had to keep at it constantly! i love food, and i love to eat but i really hate the feeling of low blood sugar. and it was happening much too often! keep in mind, i tried to add some Mila chia seeds for more satiety – but i was low again in 100-120 minutes. i tried adding some Vega Sport Protein powder – again, didn’t do much for lasting power. and did i really need to be suffering with low blood sugar? and feeling cold? was wearing two fleeces inside my house! all this to prove what point??
so i bailed and at 3 PM yesterday i had one of the flatbreads i had made from the pulp. i was feeling better almost instantly! and you know, i was no longer cold after that either. i do not feel like i failed, as i went in with this being an experiment. i tried it and did well for almost 2 days. but it just was a bit too much for me, and probably a bit (no a lot) too much for my clients. so what i learned is that my 2 Week Detox Plan is easier for most people but i will add more variety to that detox and have people juice twice a day instead of just the morning Green Monster drink.
